Full Description
Area of cropmarks, partially subjected to archaeological evaluations. On a vertical aerial photograph taken in 1976, cropmarks extend over two fields. These include several pits, linear features and at least one rectangular enclosure. There are also two possible small roughly square marks, which could represent square barrows, although these are not distinct. Other indeterminate marks are visible also, some of which may be of agricultural or geomorphic origin. Cropmarks of at least 15 overlapping thin ring ditches were recorded during aerial reconnaissance in 1984. An archaeological evaluation was undertaken over the central and eastern parts of the site in 2007 by AOC (NJ46SW0137), and in the western part of the site in 2023 (NJ46SW0177).
