Full Description
A circle of post-pits of a timber house are visible on a vertical aerial photograph taken in 1976. There is a complex group of crop marks in the area, with a small ring ditch possibly overlying the post-pits. They are both contained within a larger ring-ditch, which appears to overlie a smaller ring-ditch on the southwest side of it. This in turn appears to be overlain by the ditch of an oval- shaped enclosure, which is only part visible. A few metres to the south is a dark solid circular crop mark, closely to the southwest of which is another small ring-ditch. Other possible ring-ditches lie to the south and southeast along with another solid circular mark. An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services Ltd in May 2007 while a new water main was laid along the northern edge of the site. Although a number of indeterminate features were recorded - all appeared to be natural or the result of 19th-20th century steam ploughing. No dateable evidence was found.
