Full Description
Possible site of College of Roseisle, and remains of farmstead. On the North side of the B9013 road near Roseisle crossroads was thought to be the possible site of the lost College. A rectangular shaped cropmark with internal features lies in this area (reported by Ian Keillor). On a site inspection in 1999, and looking at a 19th Century estate map, this mark is that of the old farmstead of Roseislehaugh with a horsemill against the west wall. It is depicted on the OS 1st edition map but it is not shown on the 2nd edition. Foundations of the farmstead still survive though they have been heavily robbed. In the wood to the east is the gable end and parts of the walls of the farmhouse still standing, with a row of the original lime trees from the driveway. A walled garden lay immediately to the north of the house but nothing survives of it. Local tradition has this as the possible 'college'. The farm does not show on an earlier 18th Century plan of the estate.
