Full Description
A programme of watching briefs carried out by CFA during groundworks for a windfarm recorded ditches, a trackway and a single clearance cairn (within NO89SE0031). Three undated ditches were recorded: one within the construction compound between NO 86170 90614 and NO 86192 90586, one on the access track between NO 85117 91466 and NO 85109 91472, the third on the access track between the substation and turbine 6 at circa NO 8350 9181. A possible trackway was found within the stripped area for the substation at circa NO 8357 9182. It was aligned north-south and continued beyond the monitored area towards a small farmstead to the north and was probably of post-medieval or recent date No finds were associated with any of these features. This work followed on from a watching brief on trial pits in 2011 which recorded no archaeological features or finds.
