Full Description
Possible site of earthwork. The OS Name book (1865) notes that it is 'said to have been in ancient times, used as a camp and it seems to have been protected on the land side by a deep ditch, now partially filled in. There is no trace of a castle or other edifice now existing'. No trace of an earthwork can be seen on a once-cultivated natural promontory, overlooked on the landward side by higher ground.
