Full Description

Geophysical survey was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2012 ahead of the proposed Aberdeen Western Peripheral route Fastlink. A number of anomalies were recorded, but most are more likely to be of geological than archaeological origin. At circa NO87409529 weak linear features may be cultivation remains but this was not conclusive. A programme of trial trenching along the route was carried out by CFA Archaeology in 2013 along the route. This revealed four sites (NO88NE0148, NO89SE0097, NO89SE0066, NO89NE0115) and these and an additional two cairns were identified for further mitigation work (NO89SE0101, NO89NE0117).
