Full Description
Site of cairn, cist and urn, A stone cist was found while new floors were being laid in 1849. It contained blackened earth, pieces of charcoal, an urn containing calcined bone, and a cup made of fine red clay. A report in the Stonehaven Journal (1849) also makes reference to a tumulus. The OS Name Book (1884) also notes a quantity of bones found under a small cairn a few years previously. Now no trace of cairns, cist, urn or cup.
