Full Description
Site of short cists, destroyed during the removal of a natural gravel hillock. Cist 1 collapsed on discovery, but contained a food vessel and a skeleton oriented north-south. Cist 2 had been previously disturbed. It was kite-shaped, aligned north-south, and consisted of six slabs. It contained some food vessel fragments. The north-south orientation unusual given that east-west as is more typical of Aberdeenshire. Cist 1 has been radiocarbon dated to 2140-1955 BC, towards the end of the Beaker period.
