Full Description

Site of a tumulus. When dug into in 1812 it was a low round mound, which was found to be 'entirely composed of a vast quantity of urns, pottery of all sorts, ashes earth, half-burnt bones and charcoal...'. The urns, formerly in the possession of the minister, Rev Mr Thomas, had been lost by 1865 when the site was pointed out to the OS surveyor by James Smart, Stonehaven. There is now no trace of the tumulus and area built up.
