Full Description
Site of Craigview Works jute mill. Dating to the early 20th century, it comprised a range of 1 and 2 storey ashlar buildings. Demolished in the 1990s. A watching brief was carried out by SUAT in 1994 prior to housing development on the site, which is in the reported vicinity of the 15th century Carmelite Friary (NO87SW0012). A pre-1400 date for pottery indicates the backlands on this part of the High Street were developed prior to the priory.
