Full Description
Site of cists. The Law is a natural sandy knoll in which were found 'a large number of stone coffins containing black unctuous earth and ashes but no urns' (OS Name Book, 1863). Before cultivation it was higher and had a large number of stones on the summit. It was considered to be a place of judgement (OS Name Book). Christison (1899) suggested it may have been a motte. OS site visit 1967 found no trace of building, cairn or motte.
