Full Description

Site of a cist found circa 1844 while digging. It consisted of a cover slab and sides, while the bottom was gravel. In it were the remains of bones and an urn containing burnt ashes and black earth. It disintegrated on being exposed to the air. A faint trace of a possible ring-ditch is visible as a crop mark at this position on a vertical aerial photograph taken in 1977. This could indicate that a cairn or barrow may have stood at this position at one time.
