Full Description
Site of a stone circle which consisted of a single circle of seven large boulders. Jervise (1859) recorded that the '.. had evidently been set on end, but are now thrown down', and suggested that at one time there were probably more stones due to the irregular distances between those remaining. When excavated nothing was found. Now no trace. When the farmer of Newlands reclaimed the land circa 1945, he removed several large boulders to a strip of woodland circa 250m to the west where they remain. They are of irregular shape and size, and are too small to be the pillars of a stone circle, though they may have been the stones of a kerb cairn about 23m in diameter.
