Full Description

Site of a cist. The remains of a small hillock stood on the highest and most southerly shoulder of Herscha Hill, circa 50 yds to the west of a stone circle NO78SW0003. About 1841, when digging for gravel, a block of stone, said to weigh 12-15 tons was found. It covered a well-made grave with sides composed of slabs cemented together with clay, and its bottom was also of clay. A quantity of black earth was in it. No trace now but there is a circular cropmark visible at this site.
