Full Description
Site of al large cairn which was demolished in 1836-7. At its centre was found a cist containing only black unctuous earth. Near the south edge an urn was found containing some burnt bones. Also circa 18m from this urn, another one was found on the edge of a kiln or pit. It contained burnt bones and both were of the same design. They were both destroyed. OS site visit 1969 found no trace of this cairn, or the kiln or pit. In 1982 RCAHMS reported this site as a standing mound. IAGS visited site in 1990 when only an open field showed apart from an old water tank.
