Full Description

An archaeological post-felling walkover survey was carried out by CFA in 2012 in advance of construction of 8 wind turbines and associated infrastructure. Survey was conduction in a 100m corridor centred on existing and new tracks, and on the turbine base locations. Much of the ground was covered by brash and mulch, and had been heavily disturbed by tree furrows. Areas along proposed tracks had also suffered disturbance from passage of machinery. One site was located during the survey, an area of possible peat exploitation or borrow pitting on the north side of the existing track between turbines 30 and 31. This was in the form of a roughly crescentic cut measuring circa 75m east-west, and 25m north-south, and a depth of up to 1.2m. No other archaeological features were identified in the survey area.
