Full Description

Earthwork, possibly a burial mound, discovered when the North East Scotland railway was being constructed. The stratum of earth resembled a trench and embankment. Human bones were uncovered. The railway cuts through a low rise (NO 7820 7993) but there is no sign of an embankment or ditch. There is no other cutting in the area. The site was included in walkover survey and subsequent watching brief by GUARD in 2017 (NO78SE0090) ahead of laying of an electricity cable: no indications of an earthwork were found, and no features or artefacts identified during the watching brief.
