Full Description
Site of a brick and tile works depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows a U-pln complex of long ranges with a separate rectangular building. By the time of the 2nd edition, on which it is shown as disused, several small buildings had been added to the west. A large pond is also shown southeast of the buildings. Today nothing apart from the ponds survive. Dryleys is recorded from at least 1817, and as well as bricks and drainage ties made fancy decorate and glazed household items such as teapots and jugs between circa 1838 and the 1860s. It was latterly a subsidiary of the Seaton Brick and Tile Company of Aberdeen. It closed in 1891.
