Full Description

An evaluation was undertaken in July 2011 by Alder Archaeology over this site at the rear of a High Street rig in Montrose, which revealed an undated pit and a circular clay feature cut into natural sand. The circular feature was probably a tank associated with an industry such as malting, probably late medieval or early post-medieval. The site boundary wall had been repaired with small hand-made bricks, probably from the Low Countries, a common feature in Montrose.
