Full Description
An archaeological watching brief was to be undertaken by SUAT on a site to the north of Dorward House, Montrose. Unfortunately this aim could not be fulfilled as the ground where the development was to take place had been completely excavated away and backfilled with modern material. Inspection of the spoilheaps on 8/10/2007 revealed various fragments of post-medieval pottery and 19th century pottery as well as pieces of clay pipe and one sherd of green glazed medieval pottery. Another watching brief was carried out at this site by SUAT in April 2008 while a service trench was being excavated, with a further watching brief carried out in May 2008 over the excavation of 3 soakaways. No finds or features of archaeological significance were uncovered during these two watching briefs.
