Full Description

Desk-based assessment and walkover survey was carried out by GUARD Archaeology in 2022 ahead of proposed peatland restoration and woodland creation. Various sites / finds were already recorded within the area (NO68NW0001, NO68NW0004, NO68NW0005, NO68SE0001, NO68SE0002, NO68SE0008, NO68SW0001, NO68SW0002, NO68SW0003, NO68SW0004, NO68SW0005, NO68NW0006, NO68SW0006, NO68SW0007, NO68SW0008, NO68SW0017) and the survey identified a further six new features: NO58SE0002 (stone building), NO58NE0010 (boundary stone), NO58NE0012 (wooden shed), NO58NE0014 (wooden hut), NO58NE0016 (sheep pen), NO68SW0019 (longhouse).
