Full Description

Site of a cairn. Jervise cites a passage from Tytler's History of Scotland where some years before 1840 a mound called Re or Rye Hillock was opened. This lay near the church of Stracathro. Beneath the mound was a stone coffin, circa 2ft (61 cm) below the surface. The cist contained human remains and an object, described as 'the figure of a fish, made of gold, and about the length of a person's finger'. Coles interprets this as a cist burial with a bronze blade.
