Full Description

Site of Manor. The old manor place at Boysack is mentioned in 1450 and 1607, and in 1678 the Carnegies moved to Kimblethmont House (NO64NW0013) from Boysack which was then, according to the 19th century antiquarian Warden, allowed to become ruinous, with only part of the old mansion walls remaining. The site is marked on Roy's map as 'Castle of Boisack'. When the OS visited in 1958, A. Stewart of Boysack stated that there are no visible remains of the manor house of Boysack, but the foundations of the east gable of the present house are very thick and may have formed part of the old place. Foundations have also been found in the garden immediately adjoining, denoting that the present house is probably in the site of the Manor house. Investigation in 1983 as part of the Lunan Valley project found no medieval material.
