Full Description

Site of a ferry which is depicted on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. The ferry was iun use until circa 1936. According to Jervise (1875) a stone bridge was said to have been built over the River Dee at Kincardine O'Neil near where the ferry-boat station was. It was built by the father of Alan the Durward in the early 13th century. There is now no trace. Dinnie (1865) records that Sir Allan Durward of Coull built a wooden footbridge across the Dee in the early 14th century: no trace remains. The exact location of these bridges is not known.
