Full Description

Site of a bobbin mill which operated in Careston parish in the mid 19th century. Documentary research by J Gilliatt recorded that in 1881 it was operated by William Mitchell who was then advertising for a bobbin turner to work in the Careston Bobbin Mill. A 'Turning Mill, Careston Estate' listed in the 1885 valuation roll with John Adamson of Castleton Castle recorded as owner and occupier of the mill. The mill does not appear in the 1895 valuation roll and its exact location is unknown.
