Full Description

Alleged college and collegiate church. References to a college and to a collegiate church in Brechin are explained by the foundation made by Walter, Earl of Strathearn, Athole and Caithness, Lord of Brechin and of Cortachy, 22-31 October 1429, of an associated of four priests and six choristers serving in the cathedral, for whom a residence is provided. An incised cross-head was found near this site during restoration work on a house at 10 Chanonry Wynd and built into the east facing gable above the door photographed in 2010 shortly afterwards.
