Full Description

Approximate site of a hermitage. The hermitage of Kilgery is on record in 1319 and thereafter there are many references in the Southesk charters to both the hermitage and the office of hermit. In 1546 it is referred to as the 'Hermitage Notre Domine Maria de Kilgary' (Reg Magni Sig Reg Scot 1513-46). It was on the south of Brown Caterthun NO56NE0001) and between it and White Caterthun NO56NW0017).
