Full Description
Turf-covered remains of a cairn situated in a prominent position, and site of a stone circled which is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. In 1906 the circled comprised pieces of stone 3 feet in length enclosing a well-defined mound. Two or three stones of the circle were said to have been standing 70 years previously. Coles identifies this with 'Leachell Beandich' a stone circle in Aberlour parish demolished before 1692. In 1967 the OS recorded the remains of the turf-covered cairn which measured 11.5m in diameter and stood 0.8m high. The perimeter is defined by a kerb of stones set edgewise, visible for most of the circumference. There are no finds known to be associated with the cairn, and no local knowledge of the name
