Full Description

A watching brief was carried out by D Hall during renewal of a sewer in a location in proximity of the site to the backlands of the historic core of Brechin and Brechin Castle. The foundation trench of a stone wall was located on both the east and west sides of the burn - this is the wall shown on the OS 1st edition map as the boundary of backland rigs running off Bridge Street. A single sherd of late 18th to early 19th century brown-glazed redware was recovered.
