Full Description

A small three-compartmented building with an attached enclosure to the west, lies southeast of Little Bawd. It is not depicted on either the OS map of 1846 or 1888, but shown on the current edition (2006) as ruins. The remains were recorded during walkover survey by AOC in 2012 ahead of a proposed wind farm development. Well preserved, but overgrow, they comprised a three roomed building with adjoining square enclosure. Field survey by CFA in 2018 ahead of a proposed wind farm recorded a rectangular building (measuring 12 m by 4 m) defined by a stone wall 0.5 m high. The building lies at the east side of a roughly square enclosure measuring 11 m by 11 m. The third compartment (room) previously recorded by AOC (2012) appears to be a small enclosure abutting the north northwest end of the building.
