Full Description
Two irregular-shaped enclosures or fields and a small building are depicted at this location on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The small rectangular buildings stand on a small promontory formed by the Burn of Rothes. They still stand although the area is now afforested. Desk based and archaeological field surveys were carried out in 2012 prior to a proposed estate road for felliing. The larger of the two enclosures (then in largely open ground) survived as stone coursing ranging from 2 to 7 stones high. The smaller enclosure was not found, the area was densely planted. The small rectangular building is of timber construction, measuring 4m by 4.5m and in a dilapidated state and is likely to be of early to mid 20th century date. No upstanding footings or other features were located.
