Full Description

A watching brief was carried out at this site between April and August 2010 by Alder Archaeology over the removal of building foundations of demolished buildings and the stripping of grassed areas of Kinloch Primary School. The site was considered to be archaeologically sensitive as it might contain unknown prehistoric cist burials, a number of which had been discovered in the vicinity of the school site during the 19th and 20th centuries. The watching brief revealed that the foundations of the various buildings had been cut into clean windblown sand quite close to the site surface. No cist burials or any other significant archaeological deposits were found.
