Full Description

A watching brief was carried out by MAS in January 2013 on groundworks for an elecricity cable trench along the pavement from west of the doorway of No. 6 The Cross to the entrance to Osnaburg Street. Along its length the ground was heavily disturbed by a range of previous features and no archaeological features or artefacts were recorded. The depth of excavation was only 500-600mm and it is possible that medieval soils/features may survive at a lower level.
