Full Description

Site of a mansion. Jervise recorded that Sir David Ogilvy built a mansion circa 200 yards north of Clova Church in the 17th century. Several stones from the mansion were built into the walls of cottages adjoining the site and one bears the date '1684' and the initials 'DO:IG' referring to the builder and his wife. The old garden was still traceable, but the house was removed by 1842. Local inquiries revealed that the cottage at NO 3272 7316 bore a date stone, but was recently removed and a Hall erected on its site. This may have been the site of the mansion referred to by the Authorities. The exact location is unknown.
