Full Description

Site of a hospital. The hospital or chapel of Balgowny in the St Andrews diocese, which is mentioned in 1418, is almost certainly the hospital at Balgownie in Eassie, Angus. There is a reference to the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Balgownie, in 1450 and there are references to the mastership of the hospital from 1499 till 1695. Only the name, and a spring well survived in 1880.
