Full Description
A desk based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by Highland Archaeology Services in February 2023 in advance of instream river restoration works. It covered an area within 10 m of the river bank between Linn of Dee Bridge and Alt an t-Seilich, including a portion of the Bynack Burn and also surveyed an additional spur following the Geldie Burn. Most of the features noted had been previously recorded: see NO08NW0001, NO08NW0020, NO08NW0008, NO08NW0009, NO08NW0021, NO08NW0015, NO08NW0032, NO08NW0030. A number of new features were identified: NO08NW0056, NO08NE0071, NO08NW0057
No features were recorded with the surveyed parts of other known sites: NO08NW0003, NO08NW0005, NO08NW0018, NO08NW0044, NN98NE0003, NN98NE0002, NO08NW0031.
