Full Description

Remains of small farmstead and part of an enclosure, depicted on the 1st edition OS map as an L-shaped building with a long rectangular steading to the southwest. On the 2nd edition the long steading is not shown, while the L-shaped building appears to have been split into two separate buildings with a third building added to the east forming a T-shape in plan. Prior to the proposed demolition of the structures a building survey was undertaken in 2010. The buildings were constructed of un-quarried field stone. The stones metamorphic in nature. The walls were built of random rouble roughly coursed with numerous jumpers. The two northern most buildings were of a similar high quality construction, with walls that were straight and true with tight joints and gaps filled with small stones. Building 3 appeared to be more roughly built with larger stones, larger gaps and less attention to in-fill.
