Full Description

Shell middens found in this area while opening graves on the south side of the 1866 addition to the cemetery and in agricultural operations on the South side of the graveyard. They were described as consisting of 'ash middens, some built round with stones, with whole buckets of shells mixed in'. Recent metal detecting (2019) has recovered a number of metal artefacts from this area dating to the medieval period (NK06NW0154).
