Full Description

A watching brief was carried out at this site in July and August 2009 by MAS over the soil clearance of the access road and footprint of a proposed wind turbine. In the area stripped for the footprint of the turbine, traces of rig and furrow were recorded along with three small flint waste flakes which suggests that was prehistoric activity in the immediate area of this site. No other finds or features were observed. A subsequent watching brief was carried out in April 2011 by MAS over the excavation of the footprints for two additional wind turbines at this site. At Turbine 1, centred on NK 0855 5102, another area of rig and furrow was recorded and five pieces of flint were recovered. In all, four furrows were recorded running almost north-south. The furrows were circa 6 m apart and circa 1-1.2 m wide. No finds or features were recorded at Turbine 2, centred on NK 0896 5133.
