Full Description
Site of short cist found in November 1904 while digging gravel on the farm of Aurchlin. It contained the calcined remains of an adult, and portions of the skeleton of a child, about 5 or 6 years old, which showed no evidence of having been calcined. Pieces of charcoal were also found in the grave. It came from rising ground in the corner of a cultivated field where a stone axe had been found some years before (NJ96SW0040). Coles notes that the factor intended to protect the cist, or its site, by fencing, after 'improvements'.
