Full Description
Site of short cists. One cist was found in circa 1900 and yielded a Cb beaker. A second, found while digging gravel and sand in 1905, contained a food vessel and the skeleton of an adult male, circa 1.62 m (5ft 4in) tall, lying on its back in a contracted position. Apparently it had been covered with an ox hide, as it was covered by a felted substance, which under the microscope was seen to be hairs. The exact location of the cist is unclear. Numerous sand and gravel quarries exist in the area, some of which are still used. The food vessel and skeleton are still in the Marischal Museum, Aberdeen.
