Full Description

Remains of at least four longhouses and enclosures which are depicted on the current edition OS map (2006). Depicted on the 1st edition OS map as three rectangular buildings forming three sides of a square open to the southeast with a polygonal enclosure to the southeast. To the south is a lime kiln. On the 2nd edition, the northwest building is not depicted. The southwest building is shown unroofed and now has a small unroofed building adjacent to it. An L-shaped building has been added to the southeast. To the south the 2nsd edition map shows a dam and mill pond between the buildings. An unroofed building is shown to the east of the kiln (now annotated as old limekiln). Cawdor Forestry site walkover (NJ23SE0071) in 2021 ahead of proposed woodland creation noted the remains of the limekiln and a possible still area.
