Full Description
Site of cairn. The OS Name Boom (1870) records that it was a large mound of earth and stones, situated on ' ... a conspicuous and uncultivated eminence of considerable height and prominence'. In removing a portion of Cairnycroch for building purposes, hundreds of flint arrowheads lying in a heap were found. OS site visit 1967 concluded that the 'conspicuous ..... eminence' was a glacial knoll of earth and gravel, destroyed by quarrying on its northeast side and not an antiquity. There was no sign of the mound and no further information was found about the arrowheads.
