Full Description
Site of house. No trace now survives of a finely moulded doorway and pediment which was decorated with an anchor and dated 1718 with the initials PD and PR. It survived until 1898 incorporated into an otherwise featureless High Street house. The house originally appears to have been a secondary addition to a three storey tenement, which was traditionally believed to have formed part of the college buildings (NJ96NE0028). Ornamented by four oblong plaques which bore inscriptions, this building remained intact until circa 1850. It was then replaced by the Alexandria Hotel. This hotel was partially destroyed by fire several years ago.
Period Notes
Pediment dated 1713; survived until at least 1898.
