Full Description

A trial trenching evaluation by MAS in October 2013 prior to housing development recovered three worked flints, although there was no evidence of any associated features. Seven trenches were excavated across the site, Within trench 6, two flint flakes were found above a 20th century glass bottle and sherd in the backfill of a ditch or old field boundary. A flint end scraper was found in a modern plough groove in the same trench. In three trenches the vestiges of the furrows of rig and furrow cultivation were recorded. A field boundary depicted on 1st and 2nd edition maps, was visible across five of the trenches.
