Full Description
Site of structures. Remains of possible houses were found during land improvement prior to 1870. They consisted of many flat stones just below the surface arranged in squares of from six to twelve feet, some firemarked. OS site visit in 1968 found no trace, so unable to classify these features. They are however marked on the OS map of 1867 as 'Erd-houses' which could infer that they were the remains of souterrains of possible late Iron Age date or possibly fairly late domestic structures.
ORDNANCE SURVEY, 1871, Ordnance Name Book, (1870) 125 (Bibliographic reference). SAB1360.
