Full Description

Site of a poorhouse, built in 1849 and depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. It was designed by James Matthews and Thomas Mackenzie and by 1904 could accommodate up to 11 men and 11 women under the care of a matron and assistant. The premises later became the Ythanvale Nursing Home: the site was redeveloped in the 1980s.
