Full Description

A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by CFA Archaeology in December 2022 - January 2023 ahead of construction of a new golf course. A total of 146 trenches were excavated (circa 5.8 percent of the available area). The majority of the area contained evidence of rig and furrow cultivation, predominantly on a west-northwest to east-southeast alignment. Field drains associated with 19th century agricultural improvements were also recorded. A flint scatter was recorded (NJ92SE0193).
