Full Description

Site of a chalybeate well, depicted on the OS 1st edition map. An 1886 account states: 'A very fine spring strongly impregnated with iron. On the 2nd edition it is annotated as 'Site of'. OS site visit 1964 found so sign of it on the ground in what was then a ploughed field, although it was known locally that this well did exist. . It is supposed to have been named by the monks of Monkshome'.
