Full Description
A watching brief was undertaken at this site by CFA in July and August 2009 over ground breaking works associated with a proposed windfarm. The watching brief identified a number of features all of which were interpreted as post-medieval in date. These features included the remains of two probable field boundaries; evidence for land clearance and improvement by the partial removal of a large in situ boulder and the construction of a crude stone culvert; and a linear feature which was interpreted as a field boundary. The well preserved and extensive remains of broad rig-and-furrow were also recorded in various areas of the site, which has likely had the effect of limiting the preservation of earlier deposits or features in these areas.
